Tradescantia crassifolia ssp. acaulis

I haven’t had any of these for sale in years! This is also sometimes labeled T. iridescens but I don’t know if that’s correct. It’s a shorter plant with bright pink lightly scented flowers. During the winter this can go dormant and that means it’s just a pot of dirt! Just make sure to label it so you don’t accidentally throw it out! I let the pot get pretty dry while dormant but not bone dry. Usually it starts growing around late May

The Commelinaceae family is an interesting and popular group of plants. Many have brightly colored leaves and make a full hanging plant. They make great houseplants as long as you can provide a brightly lit place for them. The majority of them are fast growing so don't be afraid to trim your plant back periodically. Wandering jew's are famously easy to propagate. Any piece of stem will root easily in water or damp soil.
